Virginia E. Scott Garnes, 93

Virginia E. Scott Garnes, 93, Vinton, Ohio went home to be with Jesus on April 27, 2014, at her residence. She was born January 28, 1921, in Gallia County, the daughter of the late Albert M. and Mattie Pounds Scott. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert C. Garnes.

She was a member of Morgan Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she served her Lord in numerous capacities. She retired from Gallipolis Developmental Center in January, 1981, where she served as a Licensed Practical Nurse for more than 15 years.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Martha (Anthony) Woodfork, Chillicothe, Ohio, and sons: John (Kathy) Garnes, Bidwell, Ohio, Charles Garnes, Vinton, Ohio, and Dr. Frank (Joyce) Garnes, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Guy Garnes, step-son Douglas Hutchinson, brother, John Pounds and sister, Anna Mae Morgan. Additional surviving relatives include many nieces, nephews and cousins along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 3 at the Apostolic Church, Vale Road, Bidwell, Ohio with Reverend Calvin Minnis officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Bethel Cemetery, Vinton, Ohio. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio.
