Meigs County Primary Election Sees Several Contended Spots

stars-storyMEIGS COUNTY – Several primary election spots are being contended for by local people.

For the Democratic ticket, Gregory Howard is running against Jennifer Garrison for Representative to Congress 6th District. Howard is from Meigs County.

On the Republican ticket for State Representative 94th District, Daniel W. Lantz is running against Yolan G. Dennis. Lantz is also from Meigs County.

Both men have tossed their hats in the ring to the respective races.

Additionally, the primary ballots have several positions up for their party’s nod.

The Democratic Primary Candidates

Candidates are as follows: for Governor and Lieutenant Governor- Edward FitzGerald and Sharen Swartz Neuhardt or Larry Ealy and Ken Gray; for Attorney General – David Pepper;  for Auditor of State – John Patrick Carney; for Secretary of State – Nina Turner; for Treasurer – Connie Pillich; for Justice of the Supreme Court – Tom Letson; for Justice of the Supreme Court – John P. O’Donnell; for Judge of the Court of Appeals – No Valid Declaration of Candidacy Filed; for Member of State Central Committee 30th District Man – William E. Moore; for Member of State Central Committee Woman – Debbie Phillips; for State Representative 94th District – Debbie Phillips.

There are also several local members of the county central committees up for election.

The Republican Primary Candidates

Candidates are running unopposed in all but the State Representative race. Candidates are: for Governor and Lieutenant Governor- John Kasich and Mary Taylor; for Attorney General – Mike DeWine; for Auditor of State – Dave Yost; for Secretary of State – John Husted; for Treasurer- Josh Mandel; for Representative to Congress 6th District- Bill Johnson; for Justice of the Supreme Court- Sharon Kennedy; for Justice of the Supreme Court- Judi French; for Judge of the Court of Appeals 4th District – Peter B. Abele; for Member of State Central Committee, Man 30th District – Jim Carnes; for Member of State Central Committee, Woman 30th District – Marilyn K. Ashcraft; for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas (Probate/Juvenile Division) – L. Scott Powell; for County Commissioner – Tim Ihle; for County Auditor – Mary T. Byer-Hill.

The Libertarian Primary Candidates

Candidates for the Libertarian party did not file in every race, but did in the following: for Governor and Lieutenant Governor – Charles R. Earl and Sherry L. Clark; for Attorney General – Steven R. Linnabary; for Member of State Central Committee 6th District (vote for not more than 2)- Chris Armstrong, Michael P. Segrest.

The Green Primary Candidates

The Green Party had two races with candidates, Dennis Lambert for Representative to Congress 6th District and for Member of State Central Committee 8th District, James Nicholas Villani.
