Floyd R. Fillinger, 83
Floyd R. Fillinger, 83, of Crown City, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at his residence.
He was born August 31, 1930 in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Ferry and Emily Sanders Fillinger. Floyd was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from Gallipolis Developmental Center and was a farmer.
Surviving are his daughter, Peggy L. Heisel of Centerville, Ohio; two sons, Henry Ray Fillinger of Crown City and Jerry L. (Tammy) Fillinger of Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia; 9 grandchildren, Andrew Jerome, Amber Dawn, Jerry Allen, Gina, Casey, Jessica, Courtney, Lynn Marie, and Kaylin; 5 great grandchildren; former wife, Pauline Wilson of Centerville; four sisters, Frances VanPelt and Viola Slone, both of Gallipolis, Bonnie Rose of Worthington, and Helen Hart of Athens.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Tina Fillinger, sisters Rosalea Cornell and Janie Gladman, and brothers Buell Edward Fillinger, Virgil Fillinger, Russell Fillinger and Ferry Fillinger Jr.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday May 7, 2014 at Ridgelawn Cemetery with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow. There will be military services by the Gallia County Funeral Detail. Willis Funeral Home is assisting the family.
