Welsh-American Heritage Museum Open Summer Hours

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe National Welsh-American Foundation (Sefydliad Cenedlaethol Cymru-America) recently awarded a grant to the Welsh-American Heritage Museum in Oak Hill, Ohio. NWAF, organized in 1980, seeks to provide a link between US Welsh and Wales to preserve the Welsh language, culture and heritage. The funding will enable the Museum trustees to continue with the work of preservation, cataloging and digitation of materials which started during the Ohio Historical Records Advisory Board grant project in the summer of 2013.

And thanks to a generous donation from Museum trustees Evan & Elizabeth Davis, the Welsh-American Heritage Museum will be open several days a week as last summer. We have secured the help of our former intern, Rachel Lyles, to continue the work of labelling of exhibits, cataloging, and general preservation of items.

The normal hours will be from 10AM to 3PM on open days with the exception of Memorial Day.

Friday 5-16-14 10AM-3PM

Saturday 5-17-14 10AM-3PM (during Welsh Heritage Days at Bob Evans Farm in Rio Grande, OH)

Memorial Day Weekend and Festival of Flags:

Friday 5-23-14 10AM-3PM, Saturday 5-24-14 10AM-3PM, Sunday 5-25-14 10AM-3PM, Monday 5-26-14 1PM-3PM only
Thursday 5-29-14 10AM-3PM, Friday 5-30-14 10AM-3PM

During June, July and August the Museum will be open each Thursday and Friday from 10AM-3PM. Museum hours after 8-29-14 will be updated at a later time.

The public is invited to visit this historic Welsh Congregational Church filled with relics from Welsh immigration, displays on the Welsh imprint on the local landscape, and historical records from Welsh churches, gymanfadau and eisteddfodau, traditional Welsh musical events. There is no admission charge and the Museum is handicapped accessible in the rear entrance.
