Minter J. Schartiger, 73, Middleport, passed away at 4:03 A.M. Friday, June 6, 2014, in the Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. Born May 30, 1941 in Hartford, West Virginia he was the son of the late Elbert and Freda Lou Vada Kyer Schartiger. He was a retired coal miner from Southern Ohio Coal Co.Surviving is his wife, Caroll Jenkins Schartiger, who he married January 22, 1966, in Fairchance, PA., daughter, Rebecca (Ryan) Myers, Rutland, sons, Mickey Schartiger, Pomeroy and Donald (Karen) Schartiger, Middleport. grandchildren, Keith Ferguson, James Schartiger. Mickey J. Schartiger, Jr., Teresa Schartiger, Brandi Nicole Reeves, Crystal Reeves, Bodie Priddy, Morgan Myers, Gracie Myers and Rayden Myers, great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Cremeans, Samuel Durst, and Hayden Hein. Brothers, Eugene (Kate) Schartiger and Tommy (Loretta) Schartiger, both of Middleport, sisters, Donny Duvall, Bidwell and Thelma Mays, Orville, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in a death by a daughter, Carla J. Reeves, Brothers, Elbert Schartiger Jr., Willie Schartiger, Okey Schartiger, Johnny Schartiger and a sister, Geraldine Ratcliff.

uneral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Middleport-Pomeroy Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Wayne Searles. Interment will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
