Senator Votes for Lower Gas Prices

image001(2)WASHINGTON – Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Lowering Gasoline Prices to Fuel an America that Works Act, legislation that will lower gas prices for hard-working Americans:

“Under President Obama’s watch, the average price of gasoline has increased to $3.68 – double what it was when he first took office. Couple that with his job-destroying economic agenda and a federal takeover of health care, it’s clear that his policies are hurting the American people. The Lowering Gasoline Prices to Fuel an America that Works Act would ease the squeeze at the pump through expanding production of America’s vast energy resources.

“This legislation would increase our offshore energy production – under President Obama over 85% of our offshore areas have been restricted. Opening up areas where oil and natural gas resources are abundant could generate over $1 billion in new revenue, and create an estimated 1.2 million jobs. This bill would also increase onshore production through the elimination of government red-tape. This could also be encouraging news for investors in gas and oil as it could open up a world of new investment opportunities; those looking to get their first start in the world of investing in this industry may want to start by checking out the expert advice found online on sites like this – https://www.energyfunders.com/blog/whats-the-best-way-to-invest-in-oil/. With Americans traveling and vacationing with their families over the summer, we should be focused on driving the price at the pump down – this bill does that. I urge the Senate to immediately consider this common-sense bill.”
