Denver “Bruce” Kerr, 65
Denver “Bruce” Kerr, 65, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away unexpectantly at Holzer Medical Center on June 29, 2014. He was born July 10, 1948, at Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Denver Kerr and Thelma Ruth Smith Kerr. Bruce retired from Leon Elementary School, Leon, West Virginia, in 2001, following forty years of teaching sixth grade. Bruce received his B.S. in Elementary and Secondary Education at the University of Rio Grande, Rio Grande, Ohio, in 1970. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia and a member of the Alpha Delta Epsilon Fraternity, Rio Grande, Ohio.
He married Kathryn “Katie” Wallace on March 5, 1976, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Jason Bruce Kerr, Gallipolis, Ohio, brother Gary (Angie) Kerr, Marietta Ohio, uncle, Loren (Karen) Kerr, Boyton Beach, Florida, niece, Lindsey Kerr, Columbus, Ohio, Nephew, Garrett Kerr, Marietta, Ohio and several aunts, uncles and extended family members.
Bruce was a humble man who would always lend a helping hand whenever he could. He was very proud of the students he had taught and in turn they openly expressed he was a great role model. He was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 3, at 12:00 P.M. noon at the McCoy Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio. Friends may call Wednesday, July 2, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
