Middleport Speedway Thief Caught

stars-storyJamie L. Chapman, the suspect in the July 9th robbery of the Middleport Speedway store, is in custody. At approximately 8:15p.m. on July 9th, a female entered the store and gave the clerk a handwritten note that stated that someone had the suspects daughter at gunpoint and would harm her if the money from the cash register was not given to the suspect. After receiving the money from the clerk, the female left the building and left the scene. No weapons were used during the robbery.

Responding Middleport Officer, Lt. Chris Pitchford, was able to view the store’s security video and identify the suspect as 29 year old Jamie L. Chapman.

On July 10th, at approximately 3:25p.m., Asst. Chief Mony Wood or the Middleport PD, and Sgt. Adam Smith of the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office located Chapman on Leading Creek Rd. in Meigs County. Chapman is being housed in the Middleport Jail awaiting arraignment on Aggravated Robbery and Theft charges
