Charles Okey Bailey, age 81

Obit CandleCharles Okey Bailey, age 81, of Gallipolis, died Thursday evening July 10, 2014 at Holzer Medical Center. Born November 14, 1932 in Cabell County, West Virginia. Charles was the son of the late Okey E. and Anna M. Saul Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Cecile Virginia Halley Bailey, who he married on November 17, 1961 and who preceded him on February 5, 1912.

Charles was a retired buyer from the Shell Plant in Apple Grove, West Virginia. He was a United State Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of Morning Dawn Lodge #7, the Aladdin Temple Shrine, the Gallipolis Shrine Club, the American Legion Post in Pt. Pleasant, and was a life member and past commander of the VFW #4464 in Gallipolis.

He is survived by 1 daughter, Charla (Todd Fife) Murphy of Gallipolis, 1 granddaughter, Wendi Ferrell of Parkersburg, 2 great grandchildren, Eric and Michael Ferrell of Gallipolis, 4 sisters, Mildred Stiff of Chesapeake, Virginia, Mary Emma Waugh of Crown City, Margaret Bailey of Gallipolis, and Frances (Bob) Wood of Bidwell, and by 1 brother, Bob (Peggy) Bailey of Bidwell.

Funeral services will 11:00 AM. Tuesday July 15, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 PM. Masonic services will be conducted by Morning Dawn Lodge #7 at the funeral home at 6:00 PM on Monday. Military Funeral Honors will be conducted at the cemetery on Tuesday by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
