Meigs County Sheriff Keith O. Wood reports that deputies with the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office and the State of Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Middleport Police made two arrests Wednesday, July 23, 2014 after conducting marijuana eradication in Meigs County.

Suspects were charged for the alleged possession and Illegal manufacturing of explosive materials. Deputies were alerted to the materials while conducting a search warrant at 30766 Pilgram Ridge Rd. Langsville, Ohio. While conducting Marijuana Eradication with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation. Marijuana plants were found in the immediate vicinity of the home, allowing deputies to obtain a search warrant for the home. Once inside, Carolyn Lambert, age 65, was taken into custody, along with her husband James Lambert, age 60, who arrived sometime after. While conducting a search for other individuals inside the residence, deputies were alarmed to find several containers labelled with chemicals consistent with ingredients for explosives. Deputies then secured the scene awaiting the arrival of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad. Once on the scene, Bomb Techs were able to identify several compounds and chemicals, along with other materials consistent with those used for explosive devices. Bomb Techs removed and neutralized large amounts of chemicals and materials from the home. On the scene assisting with the investigation and neutralization of the harmful materials, were agents from the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), FBI, Ohio BCI&I, Franklin County Bomb Squad, and Rutland Squad, along with Salem, and Rutland Fire Departments.

Officers over a two day period eradicated nearly 1000 marijuana plants Tuesday, and Wednesday.
