Jesse James Saunders age 87

Jesse James Saunders age 87 of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Friday August 1, 2014 at Arbor’s Nursing Home from a long time illness. He was born September 6, 1926 in Yukon, WV. To the late Annie Cardwell and Kyle Saunders. He was a graduate of Gary High School and served his country in the United States Army where he received the World War II Victory Medal. Jesse was also a long standing member of Ancient York Lodge# 33 in Gallipolis Ohio for 62 years. Jesse was a retiree of Kaiser Aluminum of Ravenswood, WV and later worked with the Community Action Program of Gallipolis, Ohio for several years

He was preceded in death by his parents Annie Cardwell and Kyle Saunders one sister Erggie Anderson one brother John Saunders and his precious daughter Margie Lang. He is survived by his wife Lenora A. Saunders of Dayton, Ohio. Five sons Jesse Saunders Jr. of Columbus, Ohio Kevin Saunders of Atlanta, Ga, Shawn Moore of Dayton, Ohio Charlton and Derek Armstrong of Gallipolis, Ohio. Four daughters Annette Anderson of Clearwater Fla. Nyoka (Anthony) Goodson of Charleston, WV Cortezissa Johnson and Sierra Spicer both of Dayton, Ohio. 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Wednesday August 6, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Buffington officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM. until the time of service. Masonic services by Ancient York Lodge #33 will precede the funeral service. Military Funeral Honors will be presented by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
