“#Path2Cures Event a Tremendous Success”
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Rep. Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) and Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH) hosted a 21st Century Cures Roundtable at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The event brought leading health care stakeholders and researchers from Ohio’s medical schools together to discuss how we can keep America at the forefront of health innovation. The event also touched on what Congress can do to accelerate the discovery, development, and delivery of new cures. The event was one of nine hearings and forums that the House Energy and Commerce Committee has held since it launched its 21st Century Cures Initiative.
“We heard from several of Ohio’s leading doctors, researchers, and medical organizations. Their presentations were impressive and insightful – it’s clear that Congress must do more to help foster an environment of success for U.S. biomedical innovation,” Bill Johnson said.
“It’s evident that Ohio is a leader both in developing ways to accelerate the #Path2Cures initiative, and in medical research and technological innovation – although much more can still be done. We must continue to focus on STEM education so America will continue to lead the world in innovative breakthroughs. There is also a need for increased collaboration between academic disciplines, because not one person has all the answers. Overall, the event was a tremendous success, and I look forward to sharing the information I learned in Columbus with my colleagues back in Washington, DC.”
