Homer WardHomer F. Ward, 85, Bidwell (Porter community) went home to be with his Lord at 4:30 A.M. Monday, September 15, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at his State Route 160 home. Homer was born November 11, 1928 in Martha, Kentucky son of the late Conrad and Anna Skaggs Ward. He was a union pipe fitter of Plumber Fitters Local #521, Huntington, West Virginia. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of American Legion Post #888 at Delaware, Ohio, was a Kentucky Colonel and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

Surviving is his faithful and loving wife, Mary O. Barr Ward, whom he married July 5, 1979 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, four daughters, Barbara (Dan) Vroman, Grandledge, Michigan, Cathy (Curt) Matheny, Vinton, Robin (Don) Maretin, Bidwell and Renee (Gary) Holliday, Bidwell, a son, Matt (Lisa) Queen, McArthur, Ohio, two sisters, Georgie Weiderman and Jesse Kellough, both of Chillicothe, Ohio, five grandchildren, Shawn, Brad, Wendy, Amber and David and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Don Ward and Harold Ward and his dear loving granddaughter, Ashley Holliday.

Friends may call from 2 – 3 P.M. Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Cremeens Funeral Chapel, Gallipolis. A graveside service will be conducted following visitation in the Vinton Memorial Park with Rev. Calvin Minnis officiating.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Vinton American Legion Post # 161. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting Cremeens Funeral Home of Ohio
