Ohio Cruiser Voted Best Looking Nationwide
The Ohio State Highway Patrol recently topped the competition in the national Best Looking Cruiser Contest, capturing just shy of 22,000 votes, with the West Virginia State Police trailing with 19,502 votes. Representatives of the American Association of State Troopers will present the Best Looking Cruiser award to the OSHP on Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. in the OSHP Academy Leadership Wing, prior to the patrol’s graduation ceremony.
The contest pitted patrol cars from all 49 states on the AAST Facebook page this summer. Hawaii is the only state without a state police division.
“It is humbling to see that the citizens of Ohio recognize what we do and supported their highway patrol in this contest,” said Lt. Craig Cvetan of the OSHP. “Winning this contest would not have been possible without the support of the public we serve.
“Making Ohio safer requires a collaborative effort and the support of everyone,” Cvetan said. “This contest shows the community supports law enforcement in their efforts to improve the quality of life for the citizens in Ohio.”
Visitors to the page clicked “like” for the cruisers of their choice. The contest generated 97,291 votes, 15,785 shares, and 12,311 comments. The competition grabbed the interest of the media nationwide and gives bragging rights to the winner, as well as front-page coverage in the Fall 2014 issue of AAST’s Trooper Connection newsletter. The OSHP beauty will also be featured on the cover of the Best Looking Trooper Cruisers 2015 wall calendar, available for sale at www.statetroopers.org, with net proceeds benefiting the AAST Foundation, which provides scholarships to troopers’ children, among other benefits.
Watch for the Best Looking Motorcycle contest next summer, which will again be on AAST’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/statetroopers.
