Cancer Symposium Slated for November 8
The 18th Annual Lewis A. Schmidt, MD, Memorial Cancer Symposium will be held on Saturday, November 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 12Noon in the Holzer Education and Davis Family Conference Center at Holzer Health System – Gallipolis Medical Center.
Speakers for the event include Scott Mitchell, MD, CMD, Holzer Health System, Melva Pinn-Bingham, MD, Radiation Oncology, Holzer Center for Cancer Care, Mohabe Vinson, MD, Urologist, Holzer Health System, and Joseph Flynn, DO, MPH, FACP, James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute.
The annual symposium is held in memory of Dr. Lewis A. Schmidt, who joined the staff of Holzer Hospital in 1967, where he practiced general surgery. He was instrumental in developing the Tumor Registry and the Tumor Committee, which he chaired for several years. Schmidt was very active with the Gallia County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and other civic organizations. He also was a member of the Coller Society, the Gallia County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the Ohio State Medical Association, and was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
A complimentary continental breakfast will be served at the event at 8:00 a.m. The program itself, which is open to the public, will start promptly at 8:30 a.m.
