Maureen Brown Obituary PhotoMaureen C. Brown age 73, of Gallipolis, died Saturday evening November 22, 2014 in the Emergency Room at Holzer Medical Center. Born July 19, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late George M. and Grace M. McKellan Coughlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by a brother, Daniel O. Coughlin who died in infancy.

Maureen is survived by her husband of 54 years, W.R. ‘Dick’ Brown, 2 Sons, Daniel O. Brown and his wife Mashell Morris Brown, and Douglas O. Brown and his wife Terri Hood Brown all of Gallipolis, 3 Grandchildren, Andrew Douglas Brown, Sydney Paige Hood, and McKenzie Claire Hood.

Maureen was a homemaker and served as Parish Secretary of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church for over 20 years.

Maureen and Thelma Elliott co- chaired the Miss Gallia County Contest at the Gallia County Junior Fair for over 25 years.
Maureen loved to travel and made friends all over the world, especially her “adopted son”, Haydar Yukseloglu of Ankara, Turkey.

God works in mysterious ways. Maureen met Dick at the Ohio State University on the Saturday before Thanksgiving in 1959. Maureen died 55 years later on the Saturday before Thanksgiving in 2014.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Saturday November 29, 2014 at the Gallipolis Christian Church with Pastor Michael Lynn officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Friday from 5-7 PM. and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.
