Eblin Charged with Inducing Panic and Using Weapons While Intoxicated
Meigs County Sheriff Keith O. Wood reports On December 6, 2014 deputies from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office responded to Wagner Lane Pomeroy after receiving calls of a possible altercation. While in route to Wagner Lane deputies were advised that other calls had come into the Sheriff’s Office stating that gun shots had been fired in the area. Upon arrival deputies located and took Matthew Eblin Jr. into custody and cleared the residence he resides in with the assistance of the Meigs County K-9 Unit. During the course of the investigation deputies learned that one of the rounds that had been fired had struck a neighbor’s house traveling though his walls and stopping only feet from where a male was sitting.
Meigs County deputies were assisted at the scene by Middleport, Pomeroy, and Syracuse Police Departments.
Eblin was charged with inducing panic and two counts using weapons while intoxicated. He was released on December 8th by Meigs County Court on a recognizance bond but remains in the custody of the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office on a probation violation through the Meigs County Common Pleas Court.
