Gary P. Minton, 77

Gary P. Minton, 77, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away at his residence Tuesday, December 9, 2014 following a brief illness. He was born June 21, 1937 at McArthur, Ohio, son of the late Wyle and Merle Fout Minton. He was a 1955 Graduate of Point Pleasant High School, Point Pleasant, West Virginia. He received a Bachelors Secondary Education, Concord College, 1960 where he played football; a Masters of Education, Marshall University, 1969. Gary was a Teacher and Guidance Counselor in the Gallia County Local Schools for more than thirty years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Point Pleasant; he enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by a son, Jason (Misti) Minton, Gallipolis, Ohio and a daughter, Trenia (Brandon) Twyman, Vinton, Ohio; four grandchildren: Tyler, Rory and Lauren Twyman and Avery Minton. Also surviving is a brother, Cecil (Nancy) Minton, Point Pleasant, West Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Lovea Lee Stanley Minton and brother, Nial Minton.

In accordance with his wishes, Cremation services have been entrusted to the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis. The family will receive friends at Gary’s home, 7482 SR 7S, Gallipolis Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 1:00-3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to
