Constance L. “Connie” Hemphill, 79

Constance L. “Connie” Hemphill, 79, Cape Coral, Florida and formerly of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014. She was born August 27, 1935 in Kayford, West Virginia, daughter of the late Homer and Nellie Davis Stanley. She retired from the Saunders Insurance Agency where she was an insurance agent.

She served as President of the Gallipolis Business and Professional Women’s Club, 1985-1986 and was named Business Woman of the year in 1997; served as Clay Township Clerk for twelve years and was a Gallia County Republican Chairwoman. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Derry Hemphill, April 24, 1999.

She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Hemphill, Columbus, Ohio and Kelley (Joseph) DeCamp, Cape Coral, Florida and their children: Jarrod DeCamp and Raven DeCamp. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters: Elmer (Linda) Stanley, Gallipolis, Ohio; Paul (Ruth Ann) Stanley, LaGrange, Georgia; Melvin (Mary) Dyke, Prescott Valley, Arizona; Ellen (Charles) Small, Crown City, Ohio and Montiena (Charles) Thompson, Alexandria, Ohio as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Rev. Eugene Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery, Crown City, Ohio. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home Tuesday 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
