Imogene Church, age 91

Imogene Church, age 91 of Gallipolis, ( The Mercerville Community) died Friday evening January 2, 2015 at Holzer Senior Care Center. Born March 19, 1923 in Gallia County. She was the daughter of the late William and Ethel Brumfield Church. In addition to her parents, Imogene was preceded by 3 brothers, Melvin Lee Church, Edward Dow Church and by an infant brother, and by a special niece, Loreda Cummons.

Imogene worked for the G.C. Saunders Grocery for 20 years, before purchasing the business. She then continued its operation as Church’s Grocery for the next 42 years. She was a member of Mercerville Baptist Church for over 75 years.

She is survived by 1 sister, Irene Church of Gallipolis, 1 nephew, William (Tammy) Church of Gallipolis, and 1 niece, Stephanie Riggs of Gallipolis.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Tuesday January 6, 2015 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM. until the time of service.
