Alan Lewis Scott, 74
Alan Lewis Scott, 74 of Gallipolis, Ohio, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Friday January 23, 2015 in the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born September 28, 1940 in Cheshire, Ohio, son of the late Lewis and Geneva Roush Scott. He was a 1958 graduate of Gallia Academy High School and he retired following forty three years of service as a breakman and conductor in the Railroad Industry.
Alan is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Becky Tawney Scott and two daughters: Tandy (Steve) Flint of Gallipolis, Ohio and Julie Smith of Mason, West Virginia. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Shannan (Jesse) Brown, Andrea (Billy) Armstrong, Derek Flint, Chad Smith, Sophia and Mason Scott, and one great-granddaughter, Adalyn Armstrong. In addition, he is survived by three brothers: Allison (Jennifer) Scott of Gallipolis, Ohio; Richard (Kay) Scott, of Miller, Ohio and Randy (Diana) Scott of Gallipolis, Ohio.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, James Alan Scott and great-grandson, Kaiden Armstrong.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 29, 2015 in the Sanctuary, Grace United Methodist Church, Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Rick Barcus and Pastor Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire, Ohio. Family and friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio Wednesday 4:00– 8:00 PM
