Margaret A. “Snooks” Johnson, 94

Obit CandleMargaret A. “Snooks” Johnson, 94, of Gallipolis, started her journey Home, at 4:12 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015 at her granddaughter’s residence in Columbus, Ohio. Born October 25, 1920 in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of the late Lyman and Elizabeth Scott Peppers, Sr. She retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center. She also was a member of the Paint Creek Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lewis-Manley Post # 263 of the American Legion of Middleport.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Jessie “Cissy” Johnson, of Columbus, Oh., Marlene “Skeeter” Newsome, of Gallipoils, and Maria “Bucky” Johnson, of Columbus, and a son, Douglas “Thumper” Johnson, III., of Atlanta, Georgia. Five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas “Nestor” M. Johnson, Jr., whom she married on December 1, 1946 and preceded him in 1979, on sister, Bessie Johnson, and three brothers, Lyman Peppers Jr., William Peppers, and Edward Peppers.
