Bill Johnson Votes Against Iran Agreement

WASHINGTON – Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) issued the following statement after he voted “no” on H.R. 3461, a bill to approve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, signed in Vienna on July 14, 2015, relating to the nuclear program of Iran. The resolution of approval of the deal failed overwhelmingly, 162 to 269:

“I voted to oppose the President’s nuclear agreement with Iran, because I believe that infusing this Iranian regime – which is a robust, unapologetic sponsor of terrorism, dedicated to developing nuclear weapons – with billions of dollars is a grave mistake. On this day, of all days, we must remember that there is evil in this world committed to the destruction of America. This agreement, in my view, makes the world a much more dangerous place.”

In addition to voting NO on H.R. 3461, the approval of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Rep. Johnson voted in support of H.R. 3460, which would prevent the President from ending the current sanctions against Iran.
