Racine Area Drug Bust Results in Two Arrests
RACINE – Two Meigs County residents have been arrested following a cooperative law enforcement investigation.
Law enforcement said several types of drugs and cash were seized during the bust.
“The planning of this case has been very clear that we will follow our mission of closing down the drug problem. The Major Crimes Task Force of Gallia-Meigs works very hard to be successful in shutting down the drug dealers in our communities. These cases continue to support our efforts to move forward and protect the citizens of Meigs and Gallia counties,” said Meigs County Sheriff Keith O. Wood.
Sheriff Wood reported that the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commissions Major Crimes Task Force of Gallia-Meigs along with assistance of the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at a residence located at 47360 Horse Cave Road in Racine, Ohio. Once entry was made and the residence was secured, 48.6 grams of heroin, 50.7 grams of crack cocaine, several pounds of marijuana and 947 oxycodone pills were located at the residence along with a large indoor grow operation for marijuana was found. Also seized was approximately $28,618.00 in cash which was found inside a safe lying next to the illegal narcotics.
During the search eight firearms were located and one was found to be stolen out of Columbus, Ohio. Arrested at the residence was Bruce Fleming, age 59, and Laurel Hazelette, age 55, who both reside at the residence. Both are currently incarcerated and charged with possession of drugs with are felonies of the first degree. Other charges are possible once the case is presented to the Meigs County Grand Jury.
The Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commissions Major Crimes Task Force is a part of the Ohio Attorney General Mike Dewines Office which was formed in September of 2013. The Task Force consists of members from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Middleport Police Department, Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, and the Gallipolis City Police Department.
