Task Force Makes Another Drug Related Arrest
MIDDLEPORT – The Task Force has made another arrest in Middleport.
Chief Bruce D. Swift reports on Wednesday, November 11, the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission Major Crimes Task Force of Gallia-Meigs with the assistance from the Middleport Police Department and the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at 276 Sycamore Street in Middleport at the residence of Lewis G. Bryant. Agents with the Task Force though intelligence and investigations were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
According to Chief Swift, upon entry into the residence Lewis G. Bryant, 38, of Middleport was arrested at the residence for possessing over 16 grams of heroin. Upon completion of the search warrant Agents seized heroin, scales, marijuana, prescription pills and $1,316.00 in monies.
Lewis G. Bryant is charged with Felony 2 Possession of Heroin and is being housed in the Middleport Jail awaiting a court appearance in the Meigs County Court.
The Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission Major Crimes Task Force of Gallia-Meigs was formed in September 2013 and consists of the Meigs and Gallia County Sheriff’s Offices and the Middleport and Gallipolis Police Departments, The Ohio Organized Crime Commission is part of the Ohio Attorney General Office.
Chief Bruce D. Swift stated “This is an ongoing effort to help eradicate drug trafficking from all of our communities and assure our communities are a safe place to live.” Chief Swift stated “ I’m proud of the effort being put forth by the Task Force and all the Offices and Departments involved”.
