Food For Fines and Holiday Events at the Library
The Meigs County District Public library is doing the Food for Fines and Presents for Puppies programs again this year to help give patrons a way to wipe out their fines.
The Food for Fines program benefits local food pantries and donations will be accepted now through December 31, 2015. For each non perishable food item brought in one dollar in fines will be removed from the patrons account. The library asks that you double check dates before bringing in food, and also asks that the expatriation date goes past the end of the year.
Presents for Puppies is another way the library is allowing patrons to get rid of fines during the holiday season. This program benefits the Meigs County Dog Shelter. Eligible items for Presents for Puppies includes: collars, leashes, large metal food bowls, canned food, dry food, towels, blankets, treats, and toys. These items must be new and patrons must bring their receipt along with them, the library will double the amount of the price paid for the items to waive in fines. For both Presents for Puppies and Food for Fines only fines from overdue items will be waived, the library will not wave any fines incurred from lost items.
The Meigs County District Public Library is also hosting a few holiday events this year again as well.
There will be a family craft night at the Eastern Library branch where families will get to decorate gingerbread house to celebrate the season. Gumdrops, icing, and a variety of other candy will be provided. This event stars at 6:00p.m. on December 10 and is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Santa will be stopping by the Racine branch of the Library on December 12 from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. where the library will host a Breakfast with Santa. Pancakes will be served and pictures with Santa will be provided free of charge.
All branches Meigs County District Public Library will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. The Library will close early at 5:00p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
At this time the front parking lot and front entrance are blocked off due to construction, but parking is still available to patrons around the back of the library. Patrons may access the library through the back entrance while the new entrance is being built. The library would also like to thank patrons for their on-going patience with the construction at the Pomeroy Library.
