obit candles CGShirley L. Angel, 78, of Crown City, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at his residence.

Shirley was born May 17, 1938 in Gallia County, son of the late Brady and Belva Martin Angel. He married Lynn Angel on December 13, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and she survives him. He was a GAHS graduate and a retired self-employed excavator. He served as County Commissioner for 8 years. Shirley was a U.S. Marine veteran. He attended Providence Baptist Church. He was a member of Morning Dawn Lodge #7 and the Gallipolis Shrine Club. He loved the OSU Buckeyes.

Surviving are his wife, Lynn Angel of Crown City; a daughter, Tammi (Kenny) Barcus of Crown City; two sons, Larry Angel of Gallipolis and Tim (Shelly) Angel of Crown City; six grandchildren, Scott Angel, Bub (Mary) Angel, Wesley Angel, Tianna Angel, Jason (Rhonda) McWhorter, Johnny McWhorter; four great grandchildren, Olivia, Tyler, Sophia, and Luke; 9 siblings, Betty Crouse of Dayton, Josephine (Irwin) Gibson of Coshocton, Irene (Basil) Holley of Rio Grande, Dorothy (Don) Perkins and Barbara Chambers, both of Gallipolis, Lucy Bray of Columbus, Brady Junior Angel and Roger (Vickie) Angel, both of Crown City, and Pauline (Mike) Jeffers of Pataskala; sisters-in-law, Audrey Angel of Gallipolis and Juanita Angel of Crown City; brother-in-law, Lowen Cline Saunders of Crown City.

In addition to his parents, Shirley was preceded in death by an infant son, Wesley Paul Angel, brothers – Donald, Eugene, Raymond (Bill) Angell, James, Ralph and a sister Audrey Saunders.

Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6-9:00 p.m. There will be full military services by area veterans. There will also be a Masonic service at 9:00 p.m. following calling hours.
