img_1378COLUMBUS – An active shooter alert was sent out earlier this morning at The Ohio State University. Multiple victims have been reported along with at least one suspect being killed by law enforcement. Two men have also been taken into custody.

It started at 9:30 a.m. with someone ramming a vehicle into the chemical engineering building. One person was reportedly hit by the vehicle when it crashed into the building. There have been reports of stabbings as well. Allegedly a machete may have been used by at least one suspect.

The Ohio State University Emergency Management sent out Buckeye Alerts of an active shooter situation to shelter in place. Students were told to “hide, fight, run.” As of 11:32 a.m., that shelter in place was lifted. The “all clear” has been given.

Four of the eight transported are being treated for gun shot wounds. One person is reported to be in critical condition with the rest being in stable condition.

Facebook activated the ability for people to mark themselves “safe” as the situation continues to develop.

All academic classes have been cancelled at The Ohio State University for the day.

More information will be updated as it becomes available.
