Warrant issued after Hammon fails to appear for arraignment
POMEROY – A man that failed to appear for arraignment now has a warrant issued for his arrest.
Michael Hammon was charged following an alleged domestic complaint.
He was scheduled to be arraigned in the Meigs County Court of Common Pleas Monday, January 9, 2017 before Judge Carson Crow. Hammon failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
As previously reported in the Meigs Independent Press, Meigs County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence at 2330 Fourth Street in Syracuse on December 23, 2016 to what was reported as “an active domestic assault.”
As Deputies Leif Babb and Chris Jones were in route to the scene, they were advised by dispatch that the suspect, Hammon, had fled, and reportedly driving a gold car.
Deputy Babb intercepted and stopped the vehicle in Minersville while Deputy Jones continued on to the Syracuse residence. The alleged victim said she had been assaulted by Hammon, giving a written statement. Hammon was then arrested for the alleged domestic assault where Deputy Babb had stopped him in Minersville.
Hammon was then transported to jail. He failed to appear, however, for court.
