Woodall named new Pomeroy Village Administrator
POMEROY – Pomeroy Village has a new Village Administrator after months of the position being vacant.
Following an executive session during the Feb. 6, 2017 Pomeroy Council meeting, Woodall was hired on a part time basis to take over as Village Administrator. The Council went into executive session just after 8 p.m. They remained in executive session for some time.
When the council returned from executive session, Mayor Bryan Shank announced that he was appointing Woodall to the position and pending a vote from Council, the Village of Pomeroy had finally found it’s new administrator. Council Member Ruth Spaun made the motion and Council Member Phil Ohlinger seconded the motion to hire Woodall. The Council voted unanimously to hire him.
Woodall had been helping the village following the departure of the previous Village Administrator, Paul Hellman. Hellman cited he had another job opportunity. Hellman tendered his resignation to the Mayor and Pomeroy Council at a meeting in July. It was at that time a study done by the Rural Community Assistance Program (RCAP) on the water usage in Pomeroy. The study eventually led to the increases in water and sewer rates for Pomeroy customers. Woodall had been the Administrator of Record since Hellman’s departure. Woodall now will work on the water and sewer departments.
The Council has discussed the possibility of splitting out some of the responsibilities such as separating street maintenance from the water and sewer responsibilities. Woodall will primarily be focusing his time on the water and sewer portions of the position. Woodall is also employed in a full-time capacity with the Village of Middleport as their Village Administrator as well.
In addition to Council Members Spaun and Ohilinger, Nick Michael, Don Anderson and Maureen Hennessy were in attendance. Pomeroy Fiscal Officer Sue Baker was also present. Council Member Vic Young was absent from the meeting.
