Ohio Board of Voting Machine Examiners to meet, review election systems

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced a meeting of the Ohio Board of Voting Machine Examiners will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Secretary of State’s Office in the Continental Plaza Building at 180 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Due to space constraints, the meeting will begin in the Large Conference Room on the 17th floor and continue in the Large Conference Room on the 15th floor.

The agenda includes:

  • Review of the application for certification of the Verity Voting, Version, 2.0, Voting System, a series of modifications to the Verity Voting, Version 1.0, Voting System (submitted by Hart Intercivic), and examination of the voting system for certification and approval for use in Ohio elections.
    • This examination will be conducted in the 17th Floor Large Conference Room at 180 East Broad St., Columbus, Ohio, 43215.
  • Re-examination of the Unity Management System Version 3.0.1.1 (submitted by Elections Systems & Software [ES&S]), which originally was certified in 2006 and re-examined and re-certified in 2011, for continued certification and approval for use in Ohio elections.
    • This examination will be conducted in the 15th Floor Large Conference Room at 180 East Broad St., Columbus, Ohio, 43215.
  • Review of the application for certification of the EVS 5.4.0.0 Voting System, a series of modifications to the EVS 5.2.0.0 Voting System (submitted by Election Systems & Software [ES&S]) and examination of the voting system for certification and approval for use in Ohio elections.
    • This examination will be conducted in the 15th Floor Large Conference Room at 180 East Broad St., Columbus, Ohio, 43215.
  • Review and possible approval of edits to the matrix containing testing standards for a remote ballot marking device, which is utilized in the examination and certification of a remote ballot marking device for use in Ohio elections.
    • This review will be conducted in the 15th Floor Large Conference Room at 180 East Broad St., Columbus, Ohio, 43215.

This meeting of the board is open to the public. Board members are Jeffrey A. Matthews (Chair; Director, Stark County Board of Elections), Joyce Kale-Pesta (Director, Mahoning County Board of Elections), Shawn Stevens (Member, Delaware County Board of Elections) and William Anthony Jr.
