More information released in fatal crash on SR 7
POMEROY, Ohio – The Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has released information about a fatal crash that happened on State Route 7 in Meigs County on May 14, 2017.
The one vehicle crash occurred at 8:58 p.m. on State Route 7 near Hiland Road. According to a statement from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 1996 Ford Explorer was south bound and drove off the right side of the road. The vehicle continued on reentering the roadway and overturned.
Jessica N. Anderson, 31, of Reedsville, Ohio was driving the vehicle. According to the OSHP, she was wearing her seatbelt, sustaining minor injuries and transported to the Holzer Pomeroy Emergency Room by Meigs County EMS.
Andrew S. Reed, 34, of Reedsville, Ohio was a passenger in the vehicle. According to the OSHP, he was not wearing his seatbelt. Reed was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home by Meigs County EMS.
The roadway was closed for two hours. Northbound traffic was detoured through the truck parking lane from Collins Road. The Southbound lane was closed entirely for the two hours while crews responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation. In addition to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Pomeroy Fire Department responded with about 16 firefighters with Pumper 1 and Rescue 4. Also responding was the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, Portsmouth Ambulance, Meigs County Coroner Dr. Dan Whiteley and 33 Auto.
