RACINE, Ohio – The Racine Fire Department held a training recently with house burning.

A home on Adams Lane was burned through a controlled burn and used as a training exercise for firefighters June 19, 2017. The owners had contacted the fire department to have the structure burned.

Firefighters were on the scene for about four hours with Engine 27 and Engine 21. About 10 firefighters participated in the training which included two junior firefighters. The training gave a unique opportunity to show juniors and newer members how to read smoke and fire behavior. Topics demonstrated during the training included scene placement and how to attack a fire. Firefighters are required to complete continuing education trainings to retain certification.
