Fourth of July parades and activities around Meigs County
MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – Meigs County celebrates America’s Independence with hometown pride and flare.
In Rutland the celebration will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017. The day’s events will kick off with a parade at 11 a.m. Line up will be at 10 a.m. The celebration continues in Firemen’s Park with the Riverside Cloggers performing from 1-2 p.m. The cloggers will be followed by the contemporary Christian group Firebrand playing from 3-5 p.m. and the county western band Grey Wolfe will be performing from 7-11 p.m. The fireworks show will end the night at 11 p.m. Throughout the day there will be games and activities for children including Meigs Inflatables. Racine will be bringing out the red, white and blue on July 4 beginning with the annual parade at 10 a.m. Line up will be at 9:30 a.m. at the high school. All area fire departments and organizations are invited to participate provided they are there prior to 10 a.m. Following the parade will be the Racine Fire Department’s annual Independence Day Chicken BBQ and homemade ice cream with serving to begin at 11 a.m. at the firehouse. Chicken dinners will be $8, halves $7, and ice cream will be $3/pint. The celebration continues with fireworks at 10 p.m. in Star Mill Park.
The Village of Middleport will be celebrating Independence Day on July 4. Events will begin with DJ Kip Grueser playing music beginning at 4: 15 p.m. and going to 7:45 p.m. Parade line-up will be at 5:30 p.m. with the parade starting at 6 p.m. World War II veteran Henry Clatworthy will be the parade Grand Marshal. The flag raising ceremony will follow the completion of the parade with Middleport Feeney Bennett Post 128. The band Remember Then will preform from 7:45-9:45 p.m. The fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m. The celebration and fireworks are sponsored by the Middleport Community Association, Village of Mason, and donations of various individuals and local businesses.
