Suspicious shooting death self-inflicted
POMEROY, Ohio – The Meigs County Sheriff has given an update on the suspicious death of Aug. 20, 2017.
Sheriff Keith O. Wood said the preliminary report from the coroner has been deemed self-inflicted. According Sheriff Wood, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) had been called in on the case following some questions by Meigs County Coroner Dr. Daniel Whitely and BCI had also agreed that it was self-inflicted.
The name of the deceased is not being released by the Meigs Independent Press out of respect for the family.

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is on the scene of what is being called a “suspicious death.”
Sheriff Keith O. Wood told the Meigs Independent Press his office received a call on Aug. 20, 2017 at 2:36 p.m. Deputies responded to a residence on School Lot Road where a man said he came home to find his wife deceased. According to Sheriff Wood, the body of a woman was found “in the vehicle in the driveway of the residence.”
Meigs County Coroner, Dr. Daniel Whiteley, was called to the scene and found the death to be “suspicious.” According to Sheriff Wood, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has been called in to forensically process the scene. It was reported by Sheriff Wood it was an apparent shooting.
The name of the deceased has not been released at this time.
