Dottie Sue Lucas Turner, 74, of Pomeroy, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 8, 2017, at her residence. She was born at McRoberts, KY on September 24, 1942, the beloved daughter of the late Willard and Alka June (Howell) Lucas.

She was a 1960 graduate of Rutland High School. Dottie married Roger C. Turner on April 3, 1961, at Clintwood, VA. Her much loved husband, Roger, predeceased her on November 30, 1983. They were blessed to be the parents of five children, including their son, Roger C. Turner, Jr., who died in Iraq in 2004.

Sadly, she discovered she had cancer two years ago, beginning a courageous battle that ended at her death. Even in her last illness, she remained an inspiration for her family and friends, with her loving, uncomplaining nature.

Dottie was an intelligent, strong-willed, independent woman who had a lifelong enjoyment of learning, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, shopping, travel, and Fox News. She was a long-time member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Pomeroy, Ohio and a member of the Racine Chapter of the Eastern Star. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger C. Turner, Sr.; her sister, Nancy Lucas Hawkins; and her son, Roger C. Turner, Jr.

She is survived by her four daughters, Denise (Steve) Bunce, of Chester, OH; Charmele (Jerry) Spradling, of New Haven, WV; Monica Turner, of Shade, OH; and Katrina (Kevin) Lambert, of Cypress, TX. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary E. (Wilbern) Merrick, of Nicholasville, KY; Ronda (Rondal) Vanover, of Dorton, KY; Ann (Frank) Kourt, of Richmond, KY; Rose Edmonds, of Gallipolis Ferry, WV; and Jo (David) Collins, of Racine, OH. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, namely: Steven Turner, Kaylyn Spradling, Hayley Spradling, Roger Bunce, Tabitha Turner, Andrew Lambert, Sarah Bunce, Emily Bunce, Jared Turner, Jesse Turner, and Ashlyn Lambert. Dottie is also survived by her special pet, Lilly.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Pomeroy, with Pastor David Brainard officiating. Burial will follow at the School Lot Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy.
