Sheriff’s Office Investigating Suspicious Deaths
UPDATE
MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – In a statement released Jan. 10, 2018 from the Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood stating that his office is currently investigating the deaths of two individuals that were discovered at a residence on New Lima Road outside of Rutland, Ohio. A well-being check was received at 2:20 p.m. Jan. 9, 2018 from a family member. It was that well-being check that led to the discovery of the bodies.
Meigs County Prosecuting Attorney James Stanley was contacted as well as the Meigs County Coroner’s Office Investigator and both were at the scene. A search warrant was obtained, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted and assisted in processing the scene for any evidence. Rutland Fire Department assisted on scene also.

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – The bodies of two people have been discovered just outside of Rutland, Ohio.
Meigs County Sheriff Keith O. Wood tells the Meigs Independent Press, the bodies of two people were found on New Lima Road, near Rutland. Sheriff Wood confirmed that the deaths appear to be suspicious and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) was called to assist with the investigation. The bodies have been sent for autopsy.
The identities of the of the two people have not been released at this time.
