Caryl Emma Pooler, 90, of Pomeroy, Ohio passed away on February 26, 2018. She was born on October 12, 1927 in Alfred, Ohio, daughter of the late Lester VanMeter and Ada Williams VanMeter.

Caryl was a faithful, charter member of the Chester Church of the Nazarene. She was very active in the church, serving in several positions over the years, including pianist, Sunday school teacher and missionary president.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Gilbert) Woods and Rhea (Ray) Yonker; grandchildren, Valerie (James) Norman, Tara (Thomas) Gates II, Philip Woods, William (Samantha) Woods and Janelle Yonker; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Pooler; her sons, John and Daryl; brothers, James, John and Dana; and grandson, Robert Yonker.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Thomas L. Gates II officiating at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Chester. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
