Teacher Resignation Leads to Questions

POMEROY, Ohio – A high school teacher has resigned under questionable circumstances.

Adam Smith has resigned as the Criminal Justice teacher at Meigs High School. He was reportedly on paid administrative leave since March 2018.

The Meigs Independent Press repeatedly tried to contact the Meigs Local Superintendant Scot Gheen in the matter, but Gheen has yet to respond to MIP questions.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations is handeling the investigation. No charges have been filed yet.

Numerous reports from students and parents of Meigs High School informed the Meigs Independent Press that Smith was “escorted” from the premises in late March. Numerous parents and concerned citizens have questioned the circumstances surrounding Smith leaving, but Meigs Local School District has not officially commented on the matter to the MIP.
