Ohio House approves Steve Story Memorial Highway designation
COLUMBUS, Ohio – State Representative Jay Edwards (R – Nelsonville) announced the House approved Senate Bill 238, legislation that designates a portion of U.S. Route 33 in Meigs County as the Steve Story Memorial Highway.
Steve Story was an attorney in the village of Pomeroy for nearly 40 years and also served as solicitor for the Village of Middleport, Meigs County Prosecuting Attorney, and Meigs County Court Judge. He was a major proponent of the highway and fought tirelessly to have it become a reality.
“Steve Story was a paragon of this community, as well as a friend and mentor,” Edwards said. “It is an honor to name this portion of 33 after him, because he has done so much for this community over the years. Without Steve, 33 would not have been built. Southeast Ohio will always remember Steve’s contributions.”
Senate Bill 238 now awaits the governor’s signature to become law.
