COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Fair is in full swing, explore the wide variety of livestock competitions, local musicians, Ohio wine and brews and unique food you can only find here. Discover the hundreds of events offered daily and stop by for the Joint Legislative Agriculture Committee Meeting. Here’s a sample of the exciting happenings taking place Tuesday, July 31, 2018.

National Church Residences’ Senior Day: Seniors ages 60 and up can enjoy reduced admission of just $4 at the gate all day long. In addition, all fairgoers are invited to enjoy a free performance of The Rat Pack is Back in the WCOL Celeste Center at 12:30 p.m.

Joint Legislative Agriculture Committee Meeting: Join the Ohio House of Representatives Agriculture and Rural Development Committee and the Ohio Senate Agriculture Committee as the bicameral group showcases the work they’ve accomplished and interact with the public in the Nationwide® Donahey Ag & Hort. Building starting at 9:30 a.m.

Well Beyond 60 Expo and “Walk with a Doc”: Now in its third year, the Expo will feature health screenings that will help visitors of all ages identify healthy choices they can make throughout their lifespans to ensure a healthier, more active life at age 60 and beyond. Fairgoers visiting the Expo will have access to free health screenings and educational displays including: blood pressure screening, falls risk assessment, balance testing, vision screening, nutrition education, physical activity and more from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You also can participate in a free “Walk with a Doc,” where visitors can get valuable advice and the opportunity to ask a physician questions.

Free Live Music: The Fair offers multiple possibilities to listen to free music each day. At the Gazebo Stage , local musician John LaFollette will perform at noon and 2 p.m. As the former lead singer and guitarist of several Central Ohio bands, John captures the music of the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, blues, folk, and rock ’n’ roll. The local Drifter Kings from Delaware will take the Main Street Stage at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Drifter Kings are a contemporary blues band who performs original and creatively arranged blues classics in a wide range of styles from Piedmont to Delta to Chicago.

WCOL Celeste Center Concert Series: KIDZ BOP LIVE 2018 will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. The KIDZ BOP Kids are Billboard Magazine’s #1 Kids’ Artist for eight consecutive years performing kid-friendly versions of some of today’s biggest hit songs. Tickets are just $15 and include Fair admission when purchased in advance. Kids that are under three and can sit on a lap do not require a ticket. Children requiring a seat, or that are three and older, must have a ticket.

Pork Rib-Off: The 22nd Annual Pork Rib-Off returns with teams competing to be honored for the best ribs, pulled pork and barbecue sauce in the state. After celebrity judges have sampled the food, fairgoers will be able to enjoy free samples and cast their vote for People’s Choice Award beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Central Park.

Red Cross Blood Drive: Stop by Central Park to donate blood from noon to 5 p.m. today.

Livestock: The Jr. Dog Show begins at 8 a.m. in the Buckeye Sports Center. The open Natural Colored sheep show will begin in the Brown Sheep building at 9 a.m. Catch the open Santa Gertrudis and Miniature Hereford cattle shows beginning at 9 a.m. in the Voinovich Livestock and Trade Center presented by Ohio Soybean Council. Dairy feeder calf showmanship will begin at 10 am in the Voinovich Livestock and Trade Center, meanwhile draft horses and hitch classes will be competing in the JD Equipment Taft Coliseum.

Ohio Wine and Brews: Sit down for a locally-produced glass of Ohio beer or wine inside the Taste of Ohio Café presented by Ohio’s Country Journal and Ohio Ag Net or the Bricker MarketPlace Building. Meet today’s featured Ohio winemakers, D&D Smith Winery of Norwalk and Henke Winery of Cincinnati 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or today’s featured Ohio brewer, Seventh Son of Columbus from 4-8 p.m. in the Taste of Ohio Café.
