POMEROY, Ohio - Meigs County is under a Flood Watch along with most of Southeast Ohio.
According to the National Weather Service, the Flood Watch continues for Meigs along with Athens, Gallia, Jackson, Vinton, and Washington Counties in Ohio.
Through Thursday morning moderate rainfall is expected late today into tonight ahead of a cold front. Rainfall amounts are expected to average between 1 to 1.50 inches by early Thursday morning. In addition, any left over snow is expected to melt due to the rain and temperatures well above freezing. This will add additional water to streams, creeks and rivers in the area. Flooding of low lying areas and poor drainage areas are possible along with roadways along streams, creeks and rivers. Currently, the Flood Watch is through Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 10 a.m.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
