Rita B. Spires, 96, passed away June 14, 2019 at the Arbors of Pomeroy. She was born September 2, 1922 to Joseph and Clara (Gossman) Mickey.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Emerson Spires; brothers Bernard Mickey, Floyd Mickey and John Mickey; sisters Mary Knight, Grace Mickey, and Laura Mickey; Step-sons Paul E. Spires and Robert D. Spires, Sr.; Step-daughter Martha Fry; Step-son-in-law, Samuel Fry; Step-grandsons Robert K. Spires and Jimmy R. Spires, Step-granddaughter Patricia H. Hamilton, and granddaughter-in-law Tammy Bourne.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Jean Bourne (A. Harris), Palm Bay, FL; Grandson, John A. Bourne, Marietta, PA; sister, Dorothy Nelson, Coshocton, three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren: 11 step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Arbors of Pomeroy, for the many years of care Rita has received. Rita has enjoyed many years of happiness there with Bingo being her favorite activity.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
