Rutland Annual Ox Roast set for July 6, Celebrating American Independence
RUTLAND, Ohio – It is that time of year again to celebrate American Independence with the Rutland celebration set for July 6, 2019.
The Rutland Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting their annual Ox Roast. The fire department and auxiliary invite everyone to come out and enjoy some fun, fireworks and food.
The day kicks off with the parade line up at 10 a.m. Fire trucks and large floats are to line up at the Meigs Elementary School, ball teams and politicians line up on Brick Street, with all other vehicles to line up on Depot Street. All bicycles and ATVs will line up in the grass at the beginning of Depot Street. The parade starts at 11 a.m. with the route going through State Route 124, turning onto Salem Street, then on to Larkin Street, and ending at the Rutland Fire Department. Following the parade, the National Anthem and Flag raising ceremony will be held on the park with the Meigs Marching Band and Drew Webster Legion Post 39.
Other events at Firemen’s Park Throughout the day include Bingo, vendors, helicopter, music and more. Vendors will be open following the flag raising ceremony. Bingo will start at 12 p.m. Games are 25 cents for a regular game, cover all games are $1 a board. River Side Cloggers will play on the stage from 1-2 p.m. Med Flight of Ohio will be landing at 1:30 for the kids to view. DJ Rockin Reggie will be on the stage from 4-6 p.m. Reds Truck center will be there with their bubble truck from 4-6 p.m. Topnotch Wrestling will be performing from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Next Level Band will take the Stage from 8-11 p.m. Meigs Inflatables will be set up as well.
The day rounds out with Rutland Famous Fire Works to be set off at 11 p.m. sharp.
The Rutland Fire Department will have their food booth offering Rutland Famous Roast Beef, Hot Dogs, Corn Dogs, Sloppy Joes, Cheese Stix’s, Ice Cream, Sno-Cones, Cotton Candy, Pop Corn, Nachos and Cheese, French Fries, Onion Rings, Stadium Nachos, Pepsi Products, coffee, and Water.
