Community Coming Together to Help Family Following Daughter’s Major Surgery
POMEROY, Ohio – There will be a fundraiser to help a local family following their daughter’s extensive surgery and recovery ahead.
Promoted as “Pasta with a Purpose” will be held October 6, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Meigs County Fairgrounds in the new Rutland Bottle Gas Building for Olivia Wood. Olivia is the daughter of Keith and Julia Wood. Olivia recently underwent a 15 hour surgery and her recovery could take a year. The family had to travel to St. Louis for the surgery and have incurred expenses in addition to the medical bills associated with the surgery. Pasta with a Purpose is organized by friends of the family to help off-set those bills and expenses.
In addition to a dinner there will be door prizes, 50/50 split the pot, raffles and more. Meme’s Custom Embroidery will also be there.
Olivia is an Eastern Local student and Meigs Co. 4-H member who enjoys showing cattle at the county fair and Southern Ohio Showdown circuit. Her love for showing and her contagious smile has captured the hearts of those who know her.
“Olivia and her family recently traveled to St Louis Children’s Hospital, where she under went extensive surgery with a long recovery time. To help ease the stress of the medical and travel expenses, we are organizing this benefit with the help of many sponsors and people. Sheriff Wood and his family are always putting others first and giving back to our community. Now it’s time for our community to show their love and support to the Wood Family,” said one of the organizers, Alyssa Fitch.
The organizers also express gratitude to all the sponsors that are making the event possible to help Olivia and her family.
