Local Candidates for Primary Election Certified
POMEROY, Ohio – The Meigs County Board of Elections has certified the candidates for the 2020 Primary Election for local candidates. The Primary Election will be held on March 17 with polls open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Local candidates certified for the Republican ballot with no other Republicans filing are:
Meigs County Sheriff – Mony Wood
Meigs County Engineer – Eugene Triplett
Meigs County Clerk of Courts – Sammi Sisson Mugrage
Meigs County Prosecutor – James Stanley
Meigs County Probate Judge – L Scott Powell
There are two seats up for the Meigs County Commissioners. One seat currently held by incumbent Randy Smith is up and he faces fellow Republican challenger Shannon Miller. The other Meigs County Commissioner seat is that currently held by Republican Jimmy Will. Will was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Mike Bartrum since Bartrum left. Will faces Republican challenger Gary Coleman.
For Meigs County Treasurer incumbent, Republican Peggy Yost faces fellow Republican challenger Bonne J (BJ) Kreseen.
Four people have filed and been certified to run for Recorder on the Republican ticket as incumbent Kay Hill is not seeking re-election. The candidates for Meigs County Recorder are Tony Carnahan, Huey Eason, Jimmy Stewart and Adam Will.
No Democrats filed for county positions on the 2020 Primary Ballot.
County Central Committee positions are also up for election and include Republicans and Democrats running for their respective parties.
