Master Gardener Interest Meeting Set
POMEROY, Ohio – There will be a meeting to gauge the interest of bringing back the Master Gardener program back to Meigs County.
Have you ever wanted more information about becoming a Master Gardener Volunteer? At one point, Meigs County had a Master Gardener Program. Volunteers helped educate others about plants. The meeting will be held January 14, at 1 p.m. in the Meigs County Extension Office. Those interested should RSVP Michelle Stumbo at [email protected]. Those interested but not able to attend the meeting or have suggestions for future agricultural topics that may interest the community are advised to let the Meigs County Extension Office know.
Qualifications to become an Ohio Master Gardener Volunteer include:
- You want to learn more about plants & gardening
- You are eager to participate in a practical and intensive training program
- You enjoy sharing your knowledge with others
- You have the time to attend training and serve your community as a volunteer educator
According to The Ohio State University Extension website the Master Gardener Program is described as, “Working with county Extension personnel, Master Gardener Volunteers provide educational services to their communities such as: answering gardening questions from the public; conducting plant clinics; gardening activities with children, senior citizens, or disabled persons; beautifying the community; developing community or demonstration gardens; and other horticultural activities.”
