Community Lenten Services Set
MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – It is time once again for the Community Lenten Services to be held throughout the county.
Lent is a time of reflection and repentance prior to Easter. During this season, Christians around the world take time to reflect on how sin causes separation from God. And, upon reflection, if a Christian realizes they are disconnected from their walk with God, it is a time to repent, or turn back to God. The Community Lenten Services are an opportunity for various denominations to come together during the season of Lent leading up to Easter. These Community Lenten Services are held each Thursday in Lent until Holy Week (which is the week immediately preceding Easter Sunday). Each host church provides a light supper at 6 p.m. and then a community worship service is held at 7 p.m., with a guest speaker from another local church. At each service a special offering is taken up which is used by the Meigs Ministerial Association to help minister to local needs and families.
