Meigs Health Department Updates COVID-19 Cases for Aug. 8, 2020

POMEROY, Ohio – The Meigs County Health Department is reporting three additional confirmed cases and one probable case of COVID-19 in Meigs County. Today’s cases of COVID-19 bring Meigs County to 13 active cases, and 42 total cases (32 Confirmed, 10 Probable) since April. 

Outlined below are today’s cases:

  • Confirmed case is a female in the 50 to 59-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized
  • Confirmed case is a female in the 50 to 59-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized
  • Confirmed case is a female in the 20 to 29-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized
  • Probable case is a female in the 50 to 59-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized. 

The Meigs County Health Department is also reporting an additional positive antibody test. Antibody tests check your blood by looking for antibodies, which may tell you if you had a past infection with the virus that causes COVID-19.  

As always the Meigs County Health Department released the following statement, “We ask residents to please refrain from calling the Health Department for questions regarding these cases while we complete our disease investigations and notify relevant individuals. The cases and individuals identified as contacts of the cases will be advised to self-quarantine in accordance with CDC guidance.”

The health department urges residents to continue following federal, state, and local guidance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
