COVID-19 Update: Two Additional Related Deaths, up to 59 Active Cases

POMEROY, Ohio – The Meigs County Health Department is reporting one additional confirmed case and one probable case of COVID-19 in Meigs County. Today’s cases of COVID-19 bring Meigs County to 59 active cases, and 159 total cases (134 Confirmed, 25 Probable) since April.

Unfortunately, the Meigs County Health Department is reporting two additional deaths associated with COVID-19. The first individual was in the 90 to 99-year-old age range and the second was in the 70 to 79-year-old age range. “Our agency would like to give our sincere sympathy to the families of these individuals,” stated Brody Davis of the Meigs County Health Department.

In addition, two Meigs County residence have been hospitalized with COVID-19. These residences are in the 80 to 89-year-old age range and the 100 to 109-year-old age range.

The Meigs County Health Department is reporting 10 recovered cases of COVID-19 today. Two probable cases reported on Sunday (See September 6 Reporting below) have tested negative for COVID-19. These cases were both females who were not hospitalized and had direct contact with a case. The females were in the 50 to 59-year-old age range and 40 to 49-year-old age range. 

Today’s Cases:

  • Confirmed case, female in the 70 to 79-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.
  • Probable case, male in the less than 1 to 9-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized. 

September 6 Cases:

  • Confirmed case, female in the 40 to 49-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.
  • Confirmed case, female in the 60 to 69-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.
  • Confirmed case, female in the 30 to 39-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.
  • Confirmed case, male in the 50 to 59-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.
  • Confirmed case, female in the 50 to 59-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.
  • Confirmed case, female in the 20 to 29-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.
  • Confirmed case, female in the 50 to 59-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.
  • Probable case, female in the 50 to 59-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.
  • Probable case, female in the 40 to 49-year-old age range, who is not hospitalized.

Residents are asked to refrain from calling the Meigs County Health Department for questions regarding these cases while they complete their disease investigation, contact tracing, and notify relevant individuals. The cases and individuals identified as contacts of the cases will be advised to self-quarantine in accordance with CDC guidance.
